Identity Collapse Therapy: The Origin Framework

Identity Collapse Therapy (ICT) is where this science started. Published in two volumes in 2025, ICT was the first formal scientific framework for understanding how human identity systems fail under sustained load. The theoretical research documented in these volumes produced everything that followed — the diagnostic instrument, the biometric integration architecture, the stabilization protocols, and the applied discipline of Structural Identity Sciences. ICT is the foundation. The practice is the engineering that grew from it.

What ICT Established

Before ICT, there was no formal scientific framework for identity collapse. The phenomenon was described in fragments across developmental psychology, existential philosophy, trauma theory, and spiritual traditions — but no unified structural account existed. No invariant sequence had been identified. No architectural model had been formalized. No diagnostic instrument had been built to read the structural state.

ICT established the following:
That identity is a recursive compression of conscious experience into a stable self-model, and that this compression can fail structurally under sustained load.

That the failure follows a six-phase invariant sequence — Borrow, Mask, Leak, Snap, Freeze, Fracture — regardless of the trigger, the individual, or the context.

That identity operates within a nine-layer architecture, and that collapse propagation through these layers determines severity and recovery pathway.

That five identity types function as collapse signatures, each with a characteristic ignition point, trajectory, and recovery mechanism.
That self-report is unreliable as a primary data source under the conditions that make the report matter, because the reporting instrument is the instrument that is failing.

That the predictive processing model of brain function, the Default Mode Network as the seat of self-referential processing, and the coherence attractor mechanics provide the neuroscientific substrate for the structural framework.

These findings are the foundation on which everything was built. The instrument reads what ICT mapped. The biometric channels bypass what ICT identified as unreliable. The stabilization protocols address what ICT described as the mechanics of failure and reconstitution.

From Research to Engineering

ICT was theoretical research. It documented the phenomenon. It mapped the architecture. It formalized the laws. The applied discipline — Structural Identity Sciences — is the engineering that emerged from that research.

The relationship is direct:

ICT documented the nine-layer architecture. The diagnostic engine was built to read across all nine layers.

ICT identified that self-report fails under load. The four biometric channels (EEG, heart-rate variability, facial affect, voice prosody) were integrated to bypass the self-report layer entirely.

ICT mapped the six-phase collapse sequence. The assessment instrument identifies which phase is active and how far the collapse has propagated.

ICT described the five identity types as collapse signatures. The engine classifies the operating identity type from structural data, not from self-description.

ICT documented the stored pressure dynamics behind the gate. The stabilization protocols address the stored material through mechanically sequenced intervention prescribed from the structural findings.

ICT described the three recovery pathways. The intervention architecture matches the recovery scaffold to the identity type and collapse depth.

Every component of the applied science traces directly to the theoretical research. The engineering does not exist without the science. The science produced the engineering. ICT is the origin.

The Lineage

The lineage is direct and traceable:

Identity Collapse Therapy (ICT) — the foundational research.
Published 2025. Documented the phenomenon. Mapped the architecture. Formalized the laws. Established the scientific framework.

Structural Identity Sciences — the applied discipline.
Built from ICT. The 70,000-line diagnostic engine. The four-channel biometric integration. The assessment methodology. The stabilization protocols. The engineering that reads what ICT mapped and intervenes where ICT identified the failure points.

Structural Identity Stabilization — the practice.
The client-facing application. Independent leadership due diligence.

Executive assessment. Key person risk. The diagnostic assessment prescribed from structural findings. The 3-Day Stabilization Protocol. Load Monitoring. The report that goes in the file next to the forensic accounting finding.

ICT is the origin. The discipline is the science. The practice is the delivery. Each layer stands on the one beneath it. The books document the origin. The practice delivers the instrument.

The Practitioner

Don L. Gaconnet, CSE III. Cognitive Systems Engineer III. Twenty-seven years Senior Field Service Engineer for defense infrastructure, government systems, and Fortune 500 organizations. U.S. government agencies, every branch of the military, U.S. Senate offices. T3/Secret clearance, active.

The engineering career is not background. It is the foundation. Twenty-seven years of reading failing systems — identifying what is about to break before anyone in the room can see it, including the system breaking. That discipline, applied to human systems, produced the diagnostic instrument and the structural assessment methodology.

The 70,000-line engine was built by the same hands that maintained defense-grade infrastructure. The four-channel biometric integration was designed by the same engineer who read failure signatures in complex systems under load. The structural assessment produces the same deliverable — coordinates of the failure, prescribed intervention, honestly reported limitations — whether the system is a defense installation or a human identity.
